Xenitemena Tragoudia : Ξενιτεμένα Τραγούδια
After 5 years recording and mixing with collaborations spanning Canada, Mexico, Greece and Cyprus, Yannis Fyssas has emerged with Xenitemena Tragoudia: 13 Sociopolitically tinged songs.
Ξενιτεμένα Τραγούδια (Xenitemena Tragoudia) roughly translates to “Expatriated Songs”, but a better translation might be, “songs that left the homeland”.
This album captures the sentiment and longing for one’s homeland shared by more than 7 million Greeks currently living outside Greece. The music is a unique blend of Western and Greek instruments with arrangements that push and fuse the boundaries of Contemporary Folk, Greek Traditional and Western music sensibilities.
